Training: Young Researcher Career Day

Individual career development by Dr Mikael Syväjärvi (Sweden) and Dr Nasar Ali (UK)

Online via Zoom

The career for a young researcher is a challenging path. Everyone has their dreams. Life has its reality. One career is not similar to another even though they are in one and the same topic. We are individuals.

Everyone needs advices and feedback. Young researchers mainly have their families and friends, and in best case a mentor at the host organization. Those have some experience, but it is a great value to have broader views from various insights and experiences. In this Researcher Career Day we provide valuable feedback for young researchers careers.

The participants present their experience and career plan, and the future that is their dream. Dr Syväjärvi and Dr Ali will provide feedback using their professional experienced in research, education, supervision, networking, capacity building. The other participants will also have time to ask questions or suggest ideas. That will create an interaction which also opens the possibility to find common interests and grow your personal network. Career is to a large extent based on personal network. From that you make decision based on advices and feedback that you have got from others. That is the essential way to develop your career.
